Disability Is Having Wings… and Choosing Not to Fly

During our participation in the RISEE Entrepreneurship Programme, organized by Challenges Uganda, we witnessed a story that reminded us of a simple truth:

Disability is not losing the ability to hear or see.
Real disability is losing the will to rise.

And this truth has a name: Fatima.

Fatima…
the young woman who cannot hear—
yet listens to life with her heart.
She does not follow the sound of voices,
yet she understands ideas more deeply than many of us.

She arrived early every day,
sat in the front row,
and followed each session through sign-language interpreters…
flying with wings no one else could see.

Every time she participated,
her hands spoke,
and the entire room fell silent—
because her determination was louder than any voice.

And Then We Learned the Full Story

Fatima was not just a participant.
She is a social entrepreneur,
building a project that serves her community,
turning challenges into purpose,
and silence into strength.

During her interview at the end of the programme,
we witnessed a kind of inspiration that words cannot capture.
Though she spoke in sign language,
her message reached straight to the heart:

Courage needs no sound.
Strength needs no voice.
Willpower needs no ears.

❤️ Her Story Reflects the Story of Sudan

In Sudan—especially in Darfur—
the war that began in 2003 has left thousands with disabilities:
children without limbs,
youth without hearing or sight,
men and women who grew up without care or education.

Yet despite all this,
Fatima stands tall and reminds us:

“Disability is having wings… and choosing not to fly.”

She cannot hear—
yet she flies with determination.
While many who hear,
choose to remain on the ground.

So who is truly limited?

🔥 A Message to the Youth

Today we see many young people with full abilities, full health—
yet they remain asleep,
waiting for opportunities to arrive on their own…

Meanwhile Fatima — who cannot hear —
created her own opportunity
and built her own path.

So who deserves admiration?

At Taeziz21, We Believe in Stories Like This — Because They Change Communities

Fatima’s journey teaches us that true strength is not measured by the body,
but by the spirit.

That willpower requires no hearing,
no perfect conditions,
no excuses—
only the desire to fly.

A salute to Fatima… and to all who create hope despite hardship.
